While studying book design, one of the items we explored, obviously, was book covers. Our assignment was to take a book we had already read and create a new book cover for it.
To do this we needed to do a bit of research. We looked at books that are of the same genre as well as past book covers for our chosen book. We then were tasked with making sketches of possible covers we would design. While this wasn’t an labor intensive project, it was still quite a valuable experience. These are my results.
I chose Lord of the Flies as my book. Similar genre books include Life of Pi, The Giver, and Catcher in the Rye.
The sketches I chose were related directly to the book, some more obvious than others.
I ended up with two final ideas.
